Water Mist Systems |
Water mist fire protection system can solve your fire protection needs across a number of platforms spanning the industrial, commercial, mining, marine, chemical, and other markets. If you would like an alternative to CO2, FM200, sprinklers or even Novec 1230, water mist offers advantages than no other fire suppression system can offer! |

What is the secret to water mist? |
There are a number of parameters that dictate whether a water mist system will provide effective fire extinguishment. Some of these factors include the
water discharge velocity, spray angle pattern, particle size and nozzle coverage area. Through many years of research and development, Pyroguard has been able to find the right balance between these parameters to be able to extinguish fires faster than any other manufacturer.
Conventional sprinklers and water spray systems fight fires by the process of wetting or cooling combustible surfaces with large water droplets. When compared to sprinkler droplets (as pictured to right) , the water mist particles from the are many times smaller (ie. as small as 10 microns). When these particles enter a fire plume, there is a rapid thermal exchange of heat which cools the fire and converts the water particle into a steam particle. The steam particle (with a volume twice that of air),displaces the oxygen surrounding the fire and helps to extinguish the fire. So with cooling, local oxygen depletion and radiant heat absorption, water mist is able to extinguish fires quick and effectively!
